This untitled oboe piece was written in my composition class as an exploration of alternative endings and repeats. The melody was inspired by a trip I took to Virginia in April of 2022. I thought of the journey there and the drive through Connecticut and New Jersey, and finally arriving in the low valleys of Virginia. I explored the rivers and the rolling hills and the fields of local farms. I felt like I was in the heart of the country—this piece reflects that feeling.
